Here, I've addressed some common questions you might have, but feel free to get in touch if I’ve missed anything..
FAQs
When should I hire an interior designer?
I recommend hiring an interior designer as early as possible (at least 6 months before you want to start your home renovation) For custom homes, hiring an architect and a designer at the same time will ensure your home’s structure and every detail within it—from electrical placement to the size and style of the family room, kitchen and beyond—will fulfill your desires for your home and lifestyle. Then, a builder implements.
For renovations, the same principal applies. Hire a designer before hiring a general contractor, since all design selections will need to chosen and acquired before any work can begin. GC’s and cabinet makers are generally booked out for 6 + months, so if you’d like a kitchen renovated before Christmas, engage the interior designer in January!..
Bonus: Hiring me first means I can recommend vetted experts I trust!
What are your design fees?
I work on a flat fee basis. Since every home is unique in size, complexity, and scope, the fee is tailored to fit your specific project and needs. At our first meeting I take the time to understand your goals and vision to provide a clear, transparent cost that aligns with your requirements. I will provide a detailed proposal following an initial consultation.
How long will my design project take?
It’s difficult for me to answer this question accurately without knowing the scope of your project. However, you can expect the design phase of the project to take about 4-6 weeks for a kitchen, or 6-12 + months for a complete home renovation or new build home. All all depends on the scope and size of your home and how speedy you are with your design feedback.
Do you I prepare for my Consultation with Bronika?
Once your consultation is booked and paid for we will send you a Guide/Workbook which gets you thinking about your home, you and your family needs, and budget. Sit down with the family and complete the questions in the workbook, and we will dive deeper in our first in-person meeting together over coffee (or tea). Feel free to ask questions, or email images or plans before our meeting.
How long does construction take?
The construction phase varies widely from there based on scope, the availability of materials and labour, weather, permits, and other factors that can arise. Typically, building a custom home will require 18-24 + months, while a kitchen renovation could take 4-6 weeks. Following completion of the Design Phase you will be provided with a package of drawings, and finish schedules from us. You can use these to obtain accurate quotes from building contractors. Or, we can manage the bid process for you. Once you have directly engaged a builder and signed their contract, they will outline a timeline you can expect for your unique project, which will later be firmed up by your builder.
How are you different from other interior designers?
I grew up in rural Gloucestershire amongst rolling hills, agricultural industry and spent most of my childhood roaming fields, farms and farmers markets. When my family and I emigrated to Australia in 2010 we initially lived in Newcastle, NSW and enjoyed the coast for 10 years before moving to Kalamunda, Perth Hills. This background gives me a deep understanding of both country and coastal living, along with a practical, hands-on approach to design and construction. With a mix of technical expertise, real-life renovation experience, and a strong grasp of construction, I bring more than just design skills to the table. I’ve managed engineering projects and personally completed four full-scale home renovations, so I know how to ask the right questions, anticipate challenges, and map out a clear, realistic scope of work, ensuring no unexpected costs or delays.
My advice is always honest, transparent, and focused on what’s best for you and your home. My goal isn’t to impose a signature style, it’s to create a space that reflects you, your lifestyle, and how you want to live. With me, you’re not just hiring a designer—you’re gaining a trusted, knowledgeable partner to help you navigate the renovation process with confidence.
Do you work on design projects outside of Perth Hills?
Absolutely! I have collaborated with homeowners across Australia and the UK. Please get in touch to discuss further, as I am excited to learn more about the place you call home
